Monday Moments: Palo Alto

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a beautiful weekend! I've been road trippin'! All day in the car on saturday from New York to North Carolina where my parents live, and today we're off to Nashville where my sister lives! I'm really excited to finally after two years get to experience and see the beauty of Nashville with my own eyes, instead of through my sister's photography. Anyway! I don't have many moments from the weekend since I was on the go, but I do want to take a moment and tell you all about this book I started and finished on saturday. Palo Alto is a collection of stories strung together, it's gutsy and raw and really brings you back to a place we all once experienced: high school. It's written by the actor James Franco, who is also an amazing writer. I was drawn to this book because I follow James on Instagram and I saw the trailer for the movie they made out of it. Gia Coppola wrote and directed the screenplay, which James writes at the end how she did an amazing job at making the story a full story, unlike the book which is very episodic. The book makes you feel for each character in each chapter, even the ones that have gone haywire. If you're into raw, sexual, compelling and vulnerable writing, I suggest you read this one for yourself. Then let's make friends and go see it in NYC together!

Monday Moments

Monday moments are going to be a weekly thing for me, so here's the first! This weekend I was soaking in every moment because all of my loved ones are on Long Island for the first time in six months! My sister lives in Nashville and my parents live in North Carolina, so we don't get to see each other as often as other families. I didn't spend to much time photographing our weekend since I was overjoyed and cherishing each and every second, so here are  a few quick iphone photos (not the best photography, ha!). The weekend was nothing less than magical, with a ton of laughs and sun.

Oh and did I mention my sister and her boyfriend Andrew got engaged?! I'm over the moon for them and already planned a mimosa bar for her bridal shower! Hope everyones weekend was as perfect as ours!

Heralding a Summer's Early Sway

Happy (one day away) Summer everyone! I'm Victoria, and I don't know about you but I find so much inspiration in the summer time. Although it's not my favorite of the seasons, it is one that always has my mind racing with new ideas, inspirations and goals, so much so I lose sleep some nights! I went out and got myself a new notebook to harbor all of this summer madness abrewing in my head, and one of the list's I created so far was summer goals! (along with a "stop doing" list, but more on that later). A huge goal of mine since my senior year in college was to start a lifestyle blog, and that happens to be this here blog. I've attempted and failed twice, but like they say third times a charm (ha!). This time I decided to start with a clean slate and in doing so I felt the need to delete all of my previous posts. I felt a little unsure about it at first but I believe it was the best decision for this to work. So here I am, committed and ready, and this time Collared Owlet isn't going anywhere but up!
