Monday Moments: Palo Alto

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a beautiful weekend! I've been road trippin'! All day in the car on saturday from New York to North Carolina where my parents live, and today we're off to Nashville where my sister lives! I'm really excited to finally after two years get to experience and see the beauty of Nashville with my own eyes, instead of through my sister's photography. Anyway! I don't have many moments from the weekend since I was on the go, but I do want to take a moment and tell you all about this book I started and finished on saturday. Palo Alto is a collection of stories strung together, it's gutsy and raw and really brings you back to a place we all once experienced: high school. It's written by the actor James Franco, who is also an amazing writer. I was drawn to this book because I follow James on Instagram and I saw the trailer for the movie they made out of it. Gia Coppola wrote and directed the screenplay, which James writes at the end how she did an amazing job at making the story a full story, unlike the book which is very episodic. The book makes you feel for each character in each chapter, even the ones that have gone haywire. If you're into raw, sexual, compelling and vulnerable writing, I suggest you read this one for yourself. Then let's make friends and go see it in NYC together!
